The Mrs. has been using the JKU daily and I'm back driving the TJ. With the 87 tune you don't get too much of a difference in power or gas mileage (not enough where she would really care). Most others have said the biggest difference are when they bump it up to 91 tune, 93 tune, or the Gas Mileage tune. I have never used any of them.
The Jeep JK model tuner also has alot of other "perks" that go along with it besides power,mileage gains. You can manipulate the front and rear lockers on rubicons, transfer case and transmission gearing, TPS threshold, ect.
(biggest reason I'm selling is to get some extra $$ for TJ parts)
