Somewhat off topic but at the same time, not...
have you guys had complaints of your website not loading for anyone? I've tried to browse several times and after about five minutes waiting for it to load I give up.

1988 Wrangler YJ, Q78-15s, some of this, some of that...
2014 Grand Cherokee Limited, EcoDiesel, RWD...
2013 RAM 1500 4x4, more buttons that I'm usually allowed to touch...
2007 JK X, just getting started...

It isn't loading for me either.

The title gets set and it starts to output html however it never finishes.

My guess is that the buffer isn't finishing due to an error and we end up having to wait for the server to timeout the request.

*** of course as soon as I said this, I went to view source to go get an better idea of where the app is stalling and the page loads ***

I see this with a lot of volusion shopping cart sites, the system itself is slow.. its not helped by the graphic heavy designs. If you look at your activity window in your browser, you'll see that the page loads 77 files... plus 5 that are not found. Most get cached after the first page, so the rest of the pages load quicker.

Volusion really needs to step back and optimize their pages... 80 calls back to the server is excessive.

Bond: you may want to try and find the files that are not found and either remove the references or get the files there... that will hinder your load time.

Here are the 5 files missing:

I've debated several times writing an open source shopping cart for the automotive enthusiast market. The problem is that writing e-commerce software is super boring and I don't like to spend my free time doing boring things.

if you ever want to collaborate or just throw ideas around let me know. Ive toyed with the same, too many auto based retail sites are seriously lacking in the shopping cart (then again alot are lacking in the site design itself).

this ^ most general ecommerce software will lend itself fine for any use, the problem is nobody want to pay a designer.. and you can tell the ones that do.

As far as building an open source software, I coulnt even imagine an undertaking like OSCommerce... without getting paid. I do user interaction and software design by day and web design by night... as long as I'm getting paid, I'm happy, be it in parts, cash or any other barterable item.
