Ride of the Month - Feb '13 Vote Thread!

Ride of the Month - February 2013 - Desert Theme
Here they are guys. Pick your favorite picture to be posted on the JKOwners.com Facebook home page.
We've got 8 great entrants this month that all have very nice Jeeps in a desert theme. I've set it up as an 8 option poll this month and the close date will end on February 24th and the winner will be announced on February 25th.

Metalcloak has offered a $100 gift certificate to the winner as well which really is appreciated. Thank you matsonian. Cheers.

Here are the entrants.

#1 Riptide

From a day trip to Skagway Alaska last summer. They call it the worlds smallest desert (just outside of Carcross YT). Are not suppose to go play in/on it though. So I just pulled off the highway and posed.

#2 Darkfire

The New Mexico desert

#3 Rubiconquered

The Arizona desert!

#4 TXROCK

#5 warcop

Red Sands, El Paso, TX. This was the first place I got this Jeep stuck (the day after I bought it), I thought it would be fitting to revisit it for the sand themed photo.

#6 Joneszj

from silver lake sand dunes, on top of the world...

#7 JKUnlimitedSport_2010

Vanna and my Wife on Daytona Beach for Jeep Beach 2012!

#8 BullyWagon

Vasquez rocks near Santa Clarita CA

Good luck and happy voting!

Thank you Jason! Was a toss up between that one or the one of me climbing up the hill with some big rocks on it not to far from this particular shot! But I liked the suspension flex better on this one.

Had to go # 6.

A brave man to take flight with 35's and a D30.

Sure my rig has seen the trail, but I wheel it like a soccer mom looking for a parking spot at Nordstroms.

Thanks for the votes so far! That day out on the dunes was a blast. Have to represent for my D30 X/Sport Jeepers!

When that pic was taken, the only thing I had done to the front is the c gussets. D30 still going strong.

I voted #2 based on the fact he followed directions and posted a DESERT pic and it has some cool photography effects since this is mostly a photography contest now. Good Luck everyone!

We all followed the directions (pictures with SAND and not specifically DESERT) but he does have a great photo! But see the directions below:

I'm looking for the best picture for February's ROTM!
In honor of The King of the Hammers (and because I'm going there) this month's theme is: Desert!!!! (think sand...)I borrowed some random picture off the web to help illustrate the theme

But, don't hold back - be creative, take a great picture that has sand in it somehow and post it up to enter! I'll close the submission thread on Saturday February 16th and set up the voting. Sorry, but one entrant per person, please.

I hope you guys have a lot of fun with this new format.
Cheers.
And just for a point of reference picture, here is mine to go with the quote....see the sand? and there is water in the desert! Just my version has LOTS of water! HAHA

Haha justify it however you want, but Hawaii is NOT a desert. I could drive to a construction site and take a pic...is that a desert? The theme is "DESERT...think sand" as in the sand in the desert..not generic sand from anywhere.

The great thing about voting contests is that those who follow the rules and post good pictures are rewarded with votes. It works.

So what you are saying is that sand is not sand....it has to be desert. Gotcha....when the water/beach comes around and the topic is "Beach, think sand" lets see how much cussing comes over that one! Having run this for a year, everyone will have their justifications of how entries are not good entries, how rigs shouldn't be in certain categories regardless of the rules/guidelines, etc.

Guess this picture would have been better since it is "KoH themed" with climbing, rocks and sand?

I'm embarrassed to be from the same state.

Hawaii is NOT a desert, you are correct. But then neither is Arizona, or California, or New Mexico. They are all states.

However, like Hawaii, all of them have deserts in them.
http://www.kilaueaadventure.com/kau-desert.php

Deserts also do not always consist of sand. But then the theme was not sand, or desert sand, or beach sand, it was just simply "desert".

Hey rha600 that's great. Maybe if he posted a pic of himself at the Kau desert in Hawaii there wouldnt be an issue. But he posted a picture of his Jeep near the beach, as did another member. THE BEACH. Seriously? When the theme is "desert"? It doesn't matter at this point, because like I said earlier, voting works. And a member that posted a good desert picture won.

I'm sorry you are embarrassed to be from the great state of Florida, where there are no deserts, but lots of beaches. Guess I should have posted my own beach pic during the desert contest too. Maybe when the theme is "beach" I can compete against everyone posting up desert pics in the middle of Nevada with no water for miles. That'd be awesome.
