Looking for Headers

I haven 07' JKU with 97k miles. Manifolds have had it, cant patch em up any more. Any recommendations? I will be installing a RIPP supercharger hopefully this summer.

Pretty much all shorty headers will get you little to no gains (I know this from personal experience )

If you can manage it - the RIPP long tubes are the way to go.

Get another set of the stock ones and save some cash.

Also, stay away from the Borla long tubes.

the stock manifolds dont last, they keep cracking. why stay away form Borla? You guys dont think RIPP are over priced? Worth the extra money?

Borla loses power. This motor likes back pressure so staying with the stock headers maintains that.

My friend just installed the Ripps and there is no gain other than they won't crack anymore.

Re: Looking for Headers

I never ran the headers without the supercharger but I had to take them off when I put long arms on and there was a noticeable drop in power. No, it's not an apples to apples comparison, but they make a big difference in low end torque with the blower on there.

OBX Racing makes a set of long tubes, saw them on Ebay for around $400.

No clue whether they work or not.

Those look eerily similar to the Borla long tubes. I would not get them...

Looking for Headers

I'm interested in those OBX headers. My manifolds are cracked and I don't have (can't justify) the money for the RIPP's.

No matching tune wouldn't be really helpful either.

Before you order those OBX headers, I'd try and find someone that has installed them to see what, if any issues they caused.

RIPP is the way to go.

If I had to do it over again, I would have them ceramic coated prior to installation.

My Dakota R/T has been run for 8 years without cats. Only sim boxes to keep the lights on the dash from lighting up, passes the OBD2 test everytime.

My PT Cruiser GT was ran with a catless downpipe and no sim box. I used a couple of sparkplug non-foulers to fool the downstream O2 sensor into thinking there was a change and it worked, and the car ran great and passed emissions test just fine.

Neither one got the sniffer.

I just installed a set of Ripp long tube headers and couldn't be happier. I installed the Ripp first so can't comment on how they perform prior to supercharger install. The long tube headers, supercharger and a new tune from Ripp made the lower end much better. There is no more supercharger kick at 22-2300 rpm. Smooth and even.

Looking for Headers

The factory manifolds are like 70 bucks apiece through Quadratec. Save some coin a put manifolds back on it.

Yall helped my decision...

I knew I wouldn't be able to tell a difference in anything but the sound with headers, which was good enough... until I started seeing the primary diameters on these things! Damn. Yeah, that's several hundred that goes into the supercharger kitty!

Soon to be a vendor!!!
Looking for a good Rat Rod JK donor vehicle.

This is NOT an OBX endorsement for jeep headers. Don't have them nor know anyone that does. However, I did have a corvette before the jeep & bought OBX long tubes for it. They were great in that application (incl a dyno tune). Again, no idea of jeep performance but good bang-for-buck in my case.
