Does anyone have a pic of how this mounts to the engine side. Do you retain the air box?

Are you talking about River Raiders snorkel? If so then yes it looks like you keep the stock airbox. check this out.

I used this on my 2011,,,, yes, you retain the stock box, RR gives you block off plates for the original intake side nearest the fender, and you reverse the engine intake to manifold, from the top to the bottom,,,,you should have gotten an extension fitting for it, along with your block off plate,,, you have to drill another hole in the side of the air box...

outside air will run to original spot on the air box that was for the engine to air box, you drill a second hole on the bottom of the air box on the flat side of the box (very small area, it just fits) but almost directly under the topside intake to engine port... the factory port on the other side gets blocked off completely...
