I put mine in last week too and all I can say is SWEET!! Once again Bobby has done the 4x4 community good. Down to the little thing to help press the boot onto the CV as you install it in the axle. Very well thought out.
Thanks Bobby!!

2007 JK, 4.5" RE LA kit, ATLAS4spd, ARB rear w/ Superiors, Rubi front w/RCV axles, 5.38's, 40" KM2's, 18x10 Raceline Beadlocks, 1"BL, Poly Rockers, RR corners, PS fenders, etc...the list goes on.

I ordered a set yesterday for a jk44 that is going into my TJ....From what I understand there are some supplier issues and they may be in very short supply for a little while. If you were planning on getting some, get them while they are hot!!!

I bought mine from RCV Performance and they said they manufacture them and warranty them. I got mine for $922.25 with a discount coupon they sent out. ( JKFLYER ) They told me that the $810.00 price was the introductory price or something.. but I dont mind paying $922.25 if I know they are going to be carrying them and honoring their warranty. Its a lifetime warranty against breakage... so $922.25 is the last dime I will spend on axles IMHO!

So just a little confused.

What is the story behind the RCV and Longfields?

What exactly is the difference?

I think they are pretty much the same...kinda like Marlin and StealGear, for those who remember....

I agree. And I have heard the name Bobby long for a long time. I have not heard RCV before (although it appears they have been around for quite some time) yet they appear to be the exact same axle. Lonfields also appear to have been the first out for the JK. I recall Longfields purchasing a JK and designing them in house.

is RCV an authorized dealer? did longfilds sell them to 'em? Did RCV happen to come out with the same exact axle? did they bite the design (I realize birfields and rzeppas have been around forever and is not a new concept)? does Longfield build them for RCV or maybe the other way around?

considering they appear to be exactly the same right down to the boot I just would like to know what the relationship is and am curious to hear from Lonfield or RCV on this. Straight from the horses mouth as it were

Alright this may clear somethings up. So i got my JK axle and everything in the box says RCV Performance on it. My buddy got his from Bobby Long and his say RCV on it as well.. but the curious thing is there is a patent number on the boot and the patent for the joints belongs to RCV Performance.. so I think Longfield is just a distributor of RCV Products... see for yourself.

US Patent 7229358 - High performance constant velocity universal joint

I spoke with Bobby today and he said he designed them and rcv manufactures them and sells them. That bad part is that they are 1095 now instead of 830.00!

WOW the price is really climbing damn, I would think selling more they would go down

I'm wondering if wheeling in sand a lot will effect the joint at all

Is Long a M.E.? Designing something that complicated would have to be done by a professional engineer, I would think? Did anyone read the patent?
