Tire sizes

I have a 2008 JK X stock suspension, 3.21 gears, 6 speed. I'm being told by townfair tire that I cannot fit 265/75-16 tires without lift. there will some rubbing issues. Is this true? They quoted me on 245/75-16 for all five at $ 809 and change. For toyo open country A/T. Should I go with the 245s or shop elsewhere?
Thanks, Brian

That shop is wrong.

Your Metric Size of 265/75 R 16 = Outer Diameter: 31.64 "

You can fit those with zero problems.

Have you thought about picking up some rubicon wheels and tires instead? You should be able to pick up a set of wheels and tires with low mileage for well under the 800 that place is quoting you.

X2 on picking up a set of Rubi wheels and tires.

I picked up some for my GF's JK w/less than 3000 miles for $500. That was all 5 wheels and tires.

I have thought about a set of Rubi take offs. whatever I find in for sale post is mostly out west. Shipping woulb be horribly costly. I live in NH, not many availabe, if any. Or at least nothing ive found. Any other ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Brian

If the like them, I would keep searching for the Rubi set. Sometimes it takes a while ( a couple of weeks). Also you can post that you are looking to buy and you may get contacted.

I sold my rubi set for 400. So that would have been half price for you.

These people are wrong. The new JK allows you to run a larger tire which is different from any other Jeep that was designed. This shop is one shop that I would never buy tires from. I have a 2008 JK and picked up a set of Rubicon take offs with 1250 miles on them for $500.00. Perfect tire and wheel size. Find another shop or just always ask members of JKO.

your shop is full of it, my brother is running the same size tire in a BFG AT put on his unlimited X by discount tire...no lift...its great

however, if I were you, I would get some Rubi tire and wheel takeoffs....very nice...
