Name that skid

This was under my Rubicon when I
I got it. Obviously it's been put to use but is it factory or aftermarket? I was hoping I could maybe replace the aluminum part for appearance purposes?Attachment 48417

Thanks, it looks bad because it's beat up but it certainly is not homemade.

How can you say not homemade when you don't know where it came from in the first place? That is homemade.

The tubular bars under the flat skid are built very precise probably in a jig, but it homemade since that's obvious.

I would call it "Remy the soon to be recycled"
home brew skid for sure.
If you worry about what it looks like, find a new factory skid, because anything you plan on using will be ugly in no time flat if you wheel.

Actually, that is not home made. You got a Border Patrol JK!!
There is a company that makes them for the US Government. Those skids are all installed on the Border Patrol JK's. The "system" includes that belly skid, front diff skid, front bumper skid, tubular evap skid.

I'm guessing your JK is white. I would also look under the carpet. There are probably a whole bunch of holes from all the equipment that was mounted under there.
They also rivot a steel plate over the jack mounting cubby for some reason. Not sure why, but it's pretty weird.

Go check your evap. I bet it has that tubular skid on it. And on a lot of the BP Rubicons, they also remove the electric swaybar.
They install hour meters in the dash too, so you probably have mostly new dash pieces since they most likely removed all that shit at the stealership you bough it from.

That would make sense. Being a government vehicle the lowest bidder most likely made those skids, and it shows, lol.

I recently built 3 of those BP JK's that we bought at auction. The floors were so tore up that we ended up Line-X'ing all of the tubs.
After some nice lifts, tires, and a bunch of TLC, they turned out pretty decent. But they were beat to shit! Much worse than my Farabee's Rental Rocket was.

Yes it was border patrol, I knew that when I bought it. This one is actually in good shape, there were a few light bar holes in the roof but I had those fixed when I had the top painted body color. I'll check for holes in the pans but I've had it on a lift a good bit and never saw holes. Mine does have plates riveted to the inside of the tailgate which makes no sense.

Ok now I have to ask. How do you get hold of a BP JKU?

They get auctioned off after retirement from the BP, same as Farabee's (and all other) rental Jeeps, and end up in the circuit. Dealers buy them at auction because they usually are amazed at the price to value(on paper) ratio that they can buy them for. They think they got a steal...
Till they get them in their shop and realize that they pretty much need to rebuild them to make them marketable. Then they go
