Right Gears for the 6.4 Hemi 6 speed 2011

just wonder if anyone had a different an opinion about the regearing of JK Hemi's. At the moment i have 4.56 gears and i drive only on the road (most of the time) and sand dunes (tires MT 35 on 17's). i feel that the gears are too short and not really taking advantage of the power of the engine 500hp. i was expecting a much harder acceleration.

disappointing in some way.

what about 3.73 on a 6 speed hemi or any other regearing suggestions?

You have a manual so you can control what rpm range you drive in.

So the question is, what rpm is that usually? Because if you are not in the 6.4's sweet spot, you will be experiencing what you are describing.

Also if regearing, you would probably go in the other direction (i.e 5.13) to move the power into the lower rpm range.

Just to clarify.....you are considering going to a lower numerical gear that 4.56??

I dealt with this decision when putting together my axles.

I will run a 5.7 VVT truck motor.

Todd at JSS advised with 37's I should go with a 4.56 or 4.88.

That scared me a bit so I went with 5.13's........I wont find out until everything is together if I actually made the right call.

just to be clear why i feel the gear feels too short coz i have done some research and found that the Getrag 238 (6-speed trans) has one of the shortest gear ratios among the choices of trans available for all hemi conversions.

(Getrag 238)
1st-4.23
2nd-2.53
3rd-1.67
4th-1.23
5th-1.00
6th-0.76

2007-2011 JK Hemi Automatic conversions utilize the Dodge Ram 1500 545RFE 5 Speed Automatic.
Gear Ratio:
1st-3.00,
2nd-1.67,
3rd-1.5,
4th-1.00,
5th-.75,

2012 JK Hemi Automatic conversions utilize the JK W5A580 (also referred to as NAG1 or WA580) 5 Speed Automatic.
Gear Ratio:
1st-3.59,
2nd-2.19,
3rd-1.41,
4th-1.00,
5th-.83,

so having a shorter trans ratio plus 4.56 sound way too short dont you think ?

Have you tried starting out in 2nd? Or at least a quick shift from 1st to 2nd then hammer down? Looking at the ratio's you posted, the JK 2-6 match pretty close to 1-5 in the dodge.
