Sort of like the sum total of all payments that will have been made over the 30 year term of the loan detailed in the TIL form when you get a mortgage, it's best not to look too closely at the full expense or you'll start thinking you might have spent too much.

Did you have to include a receipt or cost for these? I'm getting ready to do the same thing.

Insurance guys wanted receipts for the large items and estimated costs on the items I don't have receipts for. I bought most of the stuff from my local 4WP store, so they were able to retrieve all my receipts for suspension components, wheels and tires, Trektop NX, tire carrier, etc. and some of the small stuff. However, some of the small stuff I bought on e-bay or from folks on this and other forums, so I didn't have receipts. Also, the bedliner and painted roll-bar was done as a "freebie" when I had my Jeep repaired due to a not-at-fault accident last summer, so I estimated that as $1,000 for bedliner and paint. In fact, I just remembered I also had the pinch seams and Rubi rails cut at the same time.

Do you include anything for the time it took to install all that? Or is that the part you call a "hobby"?

As I'm starting with a fresh plate for the 2012, I'm keeping track of every penny spent on the JK in a spreadsheet (also want to keep track of install/shipping costs for shits and giggles). Have had it 1 week today and am at $1400. Only another 35k to go.

I started adding up my mods once and stopped when I got to over $9k. I shredded the list. If the wife found out how much I "really" spent on mods... it'd all be over and the jeep...

Thumbs up

I did the same thing for my insurance company, when it was all added it came to over $15,000, and I do about 85% of the labor. When the wife looked at it, it was very COLD in the house for awhile, but then I took her to her very big walk in closet, it's still very COLD in the house.
