Axle Nuts?

I'm currently replacing my Dana 30 with a ProRock44, got everything together until I tried to install the axle nuts. The nuts from my dana 30 axles do not fit the RCV's I put in the 44. It makes sense they would be larger even though I was told everything would fit .

So I need axle nuts from a Rubi? Think this is something the dealer would keep in stock normally? Would love to get it back on the road tomorrow.

Been down for over a month now waiting on parts and its just sitting there with a new prorock in the front, new gears, and lockers taunting me

Thanks in Advance!

No offense, but my first action would have been to call the dealer to find out, not post on the interwebs....

They usually get the stuff the next day depending on what time you call.

My RCVs came with. The stock nut used a 35mm socket, the RCV nuts used a 36MM socket.

They closed 45 min before I discovered the problem so figured it would not hurt to ask.

Also, I was told they should be the same so if anybody could confirm if they should use the same nut or not that would be great. I can see running down and getting some Rubi nuts from the dealer and getting home to discover I purchased the same nuts I already have and these RCV shafts have some other size threads on them.

Thanks,

Is yours a Rubicon?

Mine did not come with nuts. My stock ones took a 35mm socket.

If we could find a part number for that size shaft there are places that you can order online and get it in a few days.

I replaced my damaged stock nut at the dealer and it was there the next day.

Another note - go out and get an AXLE nut socket. It is just a little different and fits just right (no slop) - that is one nut that I would rather not foul.... Very nice to have on hand.

I have axle nut sockets so I'm good to go there. Wish I had the right axle nuts to put on with them though.

The nuts were probably in the bag with the instructions that failed to make it into the box. A note to not put the CV cover on the shaft before putting the axle in would have been nice.

RCV Stickers were both there though...

All the pic's I of RCV shafts I find don't show new nuts. They show the tool used to help put the boot on so I would expect them to show the nuts if they came with?

Dealer parts department could not answer the question. Are the data 30 and rubi dana 44 outer axle nuts the same?

Does anybody know?

I just verified that the nuts are the same part number between the dana 44 and 30. That tells my either, RCV sent me the wrong shafts, or they should have included nuts. The splines were fine, inner and outer so it seems to be the right shafts, they just use a different nut than stock. How could they not supply nuts with these if they are different than stock! Guess I am just out of luck until I can get them on the phone on Monday.

Another week shot!

I had one from rcv that had a different thread, I think it had an outer shaft that was set up for the tj axle nut. It was a replacement for my rubi shafts. If you can find a tj nut it might be worth a try.

That's worth a shot, I'll call the local salvage yards and see if any are around.

Thanks,
