shittybuilt comsole mods?

Just installed this damn thing, and now i causes my hard top to push up enough in the center to give me a crazy amount of wind noise. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what is the fix?

I can't help you with this issue, sorry. But I'm sure that the Smittybuilt guys monitor the forums and really really wish that they had given the company a different name. Smittybuilt - Shittybuilt = too easy

Yes I have advise Call Smittybilt before you bash them. You may not like it but it could be installer error. If it is a defect smittybilt will prob cover it.

installer error? not possible!
I went back, and triple checked the thing before I bashed. I love the product, but for what ever reason, when I try to latch down my soft top. I get a rediculous amount of wind noise. It is like it sits too high, and once I have the molle system velcrod to the support, it is just too much.

I'm running the smittybilt overhead molle system with a trek top and couldn't be happier. This is the only smittybilt product I own so far, and can't get on the Smittybilt=shittybilt train yet. It's a solid mount, the molle pad and bags that come with it are great IMO , and the hardware ( with the exception of the hose clamp setup for the rear) are adequate.

Of course I wouldn't pay the almost $200 they ask for it. I got mine for half of that, so my review may be a little unfair...

Also forgot to add that the trektop doesn't even touch the top of the bracket when sitting still. I have a first gen top that's frameless too.

No issue with my '12 soft top i even had room to mount my CB on top of the metal frame near the front. I didn't like the hose clamp deal either so I used a couple of 1/4" self tapping screws to hold the back to the cross bar.

what did they say about it??

Every issue I have ever had has been handled and then some by SmittyBilt.

There customer service has been above and beyond any other company I have dealt with for my Jeep thus far. By MILES...

I have no affiliation with them at all, I just don't get the bashing that goes on when so far everyone who I know who actually has dealt with them, has had exactly the same thing to say... but on the forum there is endless trolling about how everything they make is shit... which is not actually true at all...

I would assume you would have contacted them prior to coming here and complaining, but I could be wrong... If I am, I would suggest you talk to them and get support... if you have, what did they say about it ??

This^^ They bent over backwards for me when I had an issue w/a set of their fenders not fitting. Then again I never felt compelled to talk crap over the net about them... The fenders are all I own of theirs, but they took care of me w/my issue & then some.

I was irritated about thefinal fit of the product hence the title of "shitty built". I don't think all their stuff is shitty, just the one I got. .

They bent there customers over backwards on the price of the console is what they did. If I had not got mine for $50 bucks new in the box off of craigslist, I would have never paid full asking price for it. The value is just not their at that price in my opinion.
