Rock Krawler tie rod clamp

Whats everyone using? I see poly makes a tube clamp which run 40 bucks and 13 dollars to ship. That ridiculous, not going to happen. I dont like the idea of drill/tap. What else is everyone doing? I have the steel rod. Maybe tack on a bolt? I see rock krawler makes a bracket, but that is way to expensive also. Id like to eventually go ram.

Get some bigger U bolts and use the stock bracket. If you want to go with a hydro eventually then it's pointless to weld something on now.

I used bigger ubolts. You have to clamp them to get them through the stock bracket.

If you have the RK tierod, be careful when ordering any sort of clamp. The RK tierod is a bit larger in diamater than stock, polly and others.

I'm confused. You have bigger u-bolts to use on the stock bracket. Why don't you use this setup until you switch to hydro assist? You would be wasting money buying a tube clamp if you already have a working one.

I have the newer JK steering stab clamp, ie not the one that has the u bolts, so if I upgrade to the RK tie rod there is no option other than the one offered by RK I guess

If you want the RK clamp you will need to call them. It is not on their site. Not sure why, I was told the reason and forgot.

You can also go with a Synergy clamp, they make one that fits the diameter of the RK Pro Tie Rod, its the 1.625" clamp. I have one that I drilled and tapped the top of to accept the bold from my Fox SS.

This is an option:

http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/...mp-p-1727.html

You can order it with tabs that would need to be welded on to the clamp or you can drill and tap the clamp to accept your SS bolt.

Currie also makes one for the larger diameter RK tie rod. Thats what I went with. Its on their site if you want to see it. I think it was like $40.

I called RK about this and they told me that in 2010 Jeep re-designed the clamp on the tie rod for the stabilizer. Then went as far as to discontinue makeing the old style, so if you have the newer factory clamp and you buy a larger diameter tie rod, you must buy a new clamp.

Just bringing up an old thread for some new info... We have a new clamp that's drilled and tapped similar to our OEM ID stabilizer clamp (part # PPM-8003) but now in a 1 5/8" version. Its part # PPM-8003-10 and will be coming off the production line at the end of the month.

It would but you should run something that's double sheared. PPM-3112-10 works great with some tabs welded on.

So instead of drilling and taping just weld a tab in place?

2 tabs, that put the bolt in double-sheer.

This is that Poly one we welded tabs to, it's stronger than the single-sheer threaded clamp. The threaded clamp is more than sufficient for a steering stabilizer, but full retard on ram mounts is a good idea.

Thanks for the clarification on double and single sheer makes much more sense now. I think the threaded clamp will be good for me now. Thanks for the guys.
