Spacers on stock axle shafts necessary?

I am in the middle of reinforcing my front axle and upgrading axle shafts. Tomorrow, we will install the Mt. Logan Axle Sleeves, and I am upgrading to USA Alloy front shafts.

When I pulled out my stock front shafts, I found these:

I haven't seen any mention of these washer/spacer things on any write-ups. I didn't have them on my TJ D30 stock axles.

Are these necessary, or can I just toss them?

Thanks.

Of course, after I install the sleeves, the spacers won't fit.

Still, I am curious because I haven't seen them before.

Yeah, those just make it easier to install axle shafts without tearing the inner seals.
