And so it begins... Wife's DD is getting some decent upgrades to make it wheelable.

It has begun... what's funny is it won't look ANY different at ALL lol. it drives so nice now i don't really want to mess with that too much, but some things i've been meaning to do finally starting to come to fruition...

so this is how it sits/is right now:

RK 2.5 stock mod, 35's, bumpers, winch, D44/30 open with 5.13's, etc

My goal is to keep it just as friendly as it is now but make it more capable. What i just bought from riverraider:

freshened up Front Rubi D44:
RK truss
4.88 gears (they'll be getting ditched)
Manual lockout hub kit with warn hubs and 5x5.5 bolt pattern
RROR diff cover

I have a bone stock rear rubi 44 that's been sitting in my garage waiting for some love.

i'm putting in an order in the next week for:
5.38 gears
Rear alloy shafts (to convert to 5x5.5)
Tatton driveshafts front and rear
Rear Upper control arms
new ATX justice wheels in 5x5.5

I know it's kinda mundane stuff but my idea was to make this look the same (not too extreme) but really build it to work. Eventually i'll put a rubi crawler in it and i figure i'll have a "better than a rubi" daily driver. I'll have the D44's, lockers, and a killer low range when/if i need it.

Anyway, just figured i'd share.

LOL, it's staying on 35's. it'll still be her DD until next year when she gets her JK unlimited or grand cherokee.

And even then, i have the nutty one for the super hardcore stuff. I just want to be able to go out and wheel with you and nick and and not hold everyone up. Kim can drive this one on the trails too since it's an auto. So that makes the day a little more fun for her ya know...

I did change up the plans a little bit...

Ben is buying my spyntec kit but i'm getting his Alloy front 44 shafts

I also spent some $ today. Ordered a new front tatton driveshaft from RCO (thanks marcus)

Also ordered my 10" front coilovers to match my 2.5" kit for the front (thanks Rock Krawler!)

And ordered an arb fridge the other day to keep the beer cold!

All that's left is get my gears ordered, and i pick the axles up tuesday!

You and nick both running rock krawler coilovers? And man, I want that river raider freshened front axle!

I need to get a job doing what you're doing.

Seems like a pretty solid setup if you're going to stick to 35s.

Yes, nick and i will both be representing RK coilovers. Him moreso than me since he has the long arm. I'm staying short arm.

There is one in my future. I had bustabizz price one out for me a few months ago.

LOL, it's kinda left the budget build arena with the axles and stuff... Even so, i only paid 2400 bucks for both of those axles. Which seemed like a really good deal to me. I did spend $ on the coilovers and driveshaft though. The coilovers really aren't necessary... i just thought they were neat lol.

But the rest of the jeep is still budget. i paid 350 for the rear bumper/tire carrier, 100 for the rockers, front bumper was free, Steering stabilizer was free, 500 for the hard top... and the tires were only 1115 shipped for all 5...

I think i've kept the cost down on it pretty well...

so i'm done ordering parts for a little bit lol. I hated to do it but i sold the spyntecs. They were REALLY cool but really not necessary for what this rig sees. it's my wife's "urban assault vehicle" and our occassional family outing vehicle. we just found out that with the rear facing child seat in the back, nobody can sit in the passenger seat lol. So hopefully by the time she's front facing this will be 100% done and ready for family wheeling trips!

Anyway...

I Just ordered:

5.38's and install kits
Stainless front lines
EVO rockstars
Currie coil retainers

my front driveshaft should be here this week

i think the RK coilovers should ship this week...

hopefully be putting this thing together by the end of the month! i still need to get the motor in my XJ, and the new nv3550 into the TJ before i can tear into the JK.
