two questions....
|
On my last run, i was talking about beefing up front D30...a guy recomended some superior axle shaft seals.... says that they are a cheap way to ensure crap doesnt find its way into the axle tube. checked em out, fairly cheap and an easy install... dont hear too much about them being a needed upgarde with all the D30 improvement talk.... what do u guys think...
and..
is 3.25 BS gonna be bad .... i currently have a 15X10 with 3.75 backspace and 35x12.50's
just grabbed that raceline monster that was flaoting on here for sale for a week... 15x8 w/ 3.25 BS... what am i looking at here before i pull the trigger on the rest of the set..
i figure the narrower rim and less backspace will offset my wider rim and more backspace and it will look pretty similar.... but i hear "people" say that 3.25 BS will cause to much stress on some axle components...
give it to me straight

Your tire to tire stance will be reduced by approx. 1" with the 8" - 3.25" Backsp. wheels over your current 10" - 3.75" Backsp. wheels with the same tire, therefore you'd actually have less load with the new wheels
.
You also would have about 1/2" less tire clearance on the inside each side but that's not an issue with your mentioned tire wheel combo.

I'm curious myself on the axle seals, I have a set sitting on my bench, probably tackle it next weekend.

I gave axle seals and they were installed with my lift and everything! Everyone told me to go with them ASAP even for on road use! They were cheap and it was an upgrade! I would say buy them and install them!!! You don't want anything getting into the d30's and messing them up! Or at least I didn't!

I installed the alloy USA tube seals and am glad I did... When I pulled the axle shafts to do the install I had a small beach worth of sand and dirt come out of the axle tubes. I actually fbaricated a small scraper to get in there and drag all the dirt out!

Thanks guys...
going to start tackling the d30 upgrades...and figured axle seals will be easy enuff in a few weeks, when I rotate and do my brakes anyway...cool
