relocated my muffler

Like many others, I wanted to relocate/replace my stock muffler to gain some extra room in the back of the heep. I want to put a custom hitch back there, so it had to go.

I didn't feel like spending ~$300 for a kit, so I spent $47....on a cherry bomb and two clamps.

It actually sounds pretty decent; a little ricey, but not too bad. Basically, I bought the longest muffler PepBoys had in stock (cherry bomb part number 87516, 2.5" inlet/outlet, 29.5" OAL). Just cut out enough tailpipe under the driver's seat, and install. Cut the stock muffler off (the clamp was nearly impossible to remove).

I'm happy with it...

If you finish it off with a nice tucked out of the way tail pipe the sound will be less "ricey".

just in first gear it's a little louder than a honda, But seeing it first hand and hearing it makes me jealous.... sounds great on the road as well as on the trail...

I can't see why an extra 1.5' of tailpipe would change anything; I'm still running the stock tailpipe for ~5' after the muffler (dumps out over the rear axle).

If I were smart enough to know how, then I would, but unless someone can explain how to do it with a droidx, I doubt it will happen. Unless someone here speaks retard and geek fluently...

Nice, same place as mine. The sound will mellow over a few weeks and sound less ricey as the muffler batting settles in.

I did the same thing but I used a moroso flow through exhaust, pretty much the same thing but I welded mine in. Worked out nice, doesn't sound exactly like I would like but for the price I cant complain.
