"change oil" message?

Been working under the jeep today, and noticed oil mark on oil filter, so I tighten it up with my hands. Later when I started jeep I got message "change oil". What the heck? Oil level is normal and oil was changed 1500 miles ago.

Just coincidence. It comes on whenever it decides you should change it according to an algorithm . Was the light on when you took it to get changed? Likely it was just never reset or is due.

Turn the key to the first or second position ...can't remember which, just don't turn the engine. Pump the gas pedal 3 times. That resets the oil change light.
