Search

2dr or 4?

4dr - you will be fine for a while.. could be years.

2dr - replace it soon.

4 dr here, I ran mine ripped for a year before the boot at the transfer case let go, then the noises became angry from underneath. Just put a new Tatton on today!

Which boot?

The big boot that covers the slip joint between the two halves of the driveshaft isn't a big issue. Just try to keep it clean and greased.

The small boots at the joints at either end are a different story. You can try to keep them greased, but you would be much better off replacing the shaft if/when those go out.

I have torn mine so many times I gave up having it replaced. The dealer has to replace the whole driveshaft under warranty for the boot. I just keep mine greased up now until I buy a new aftermarket shaft.

In my 2door I tore my front boot the 5th day I owned my JK. But drove it for 2.5 more years with the 4" lift with no issues. My rear failed on the hwy and that wasn't fun.

4 bills. I ordered mine direct from tatton. I had a conversation with the owner and he was very helpful.
