Bumper Delima

I am looking for a front winch bumper for my JK. I have a Warn 9.5ti waiting to be mounted, but nothing to put it on yet!

I can't deceide between the following:
LoD
http://www.lodoffroad.com/jeep_jk/20...-accessory.htm

Shrockworks (Mid-Width)
http://www.shrockworks.com/Jeep-JK-F...-pr-16215.html

Mountain Offroad Enterprises (unpainted though - add $$$)
http://mountainoffroad.com/more.htm

Ordered the Lod, but canceled when I saw the Mountain one. Plus the Lod one looks a bit wimpy.

Is it important to have the bar on the front of a winch bumper? If not it does make it a bit cheaper. Does the bar offer protection or it just looks?

Leaning toward the Shrockworks one, but don't know much about them.

My money is on Jim Shrake and Shrockworks. I have the full stubby and love it. Top notch. PITA to install as most JK bumpers seem to be but worth it. I like how it hides the monster PowerPlant.

I have the LOD rear bumper and, well, do a search on this forum and you can hear my story from them. They may have changed but doubtful after a recent post by another on a different forum whose difficulties mirrored mine.

I don't have any experience with Mountain.

Thanks!

What was the PITA part of the intstall?

I talked to Chris from LoD last week. He claims that they have moved into the new faclity & have cut the lead the lead times down to 10days.

Large hands and bolts in tight spots like the crush cans up front and the air dam support.

I like th LoD design, which is why I bought it. What I got was less than expected. I have made mine work for me, for now, but I can't recommend them. Here is my pics.

I also have the front Shrockworks Stubby with a Warn Powerplant. I love both of them, just to echo MichaelW's experience. The bumper seems very stout and I think it looks great - personally I think the stubby blends much nicer with the lines of the grill on the JK than the mid-width bumpers do - just a personal opinion.

As Michael said, it's a nice feature that the winch sits down inside the bumper a ways as it makes it less of a "major element" of the front view.
