Recommendations on a radiator fan

Long story short, the stock fan is giving up and Iíd like to replace it with one that will last. Like waterproof....

I used the search function but nothing really came up for different choices and pros and cons of them being batted around and so on.

I did stumble across the $800 Griffin set up though when I was googling waterproof fans.....

Any thoughts or first hand experience would be great. Iíve seen many mount with the straps through the core, which to me looks like it will wear through the tubes eventually. I dunno, just looking for some advise before going down the wrong path... thanks in advance. Oh and I put the post here since it will be aftermarket and an upgrade...

You can upgrade to the JK Pentastar fan. I found one on Carpart.com for less than $300. Also using the AEV fan swap harness and Procal to reprogram the PCM to run the PWM fan. There are others that make the harness; not sure about reprogramming. Your 2008 JK PCM should work OK with the Procal reprogram. Haven't run mine yet, but the PWM program apparently was received OK (got the two horn thinks indicating "successful program.")

Comparing the 3.8 to the 3.6 fan - the 3.6 looks fairly completely sealed, far better than the 3.8.

Thanks, I found this but dang, 300 for a fan, this, and then another programmer and the griffin complete radiator and dual fan swap is in the same $$$ neighborhood.

If it were somewhat easy I could readily pull of itíd be one thing but my wife having her hysterectomy on Monday Iíll be too busy to fugue all of this out. I have my truck to drive and her CX-9 as backups so it may sit for a while so I can try to wrap my head around al, of this to get the pwm to work smoothly...

Hope everything goes well for you and your wife.

As for the fan replacement, I went for the closest thing to stock, figured it would be most reliable. We'll see.
