Elocker disturb pinion?

Looking at regear and noticed something about the Eaton e locker for the rear d44

It looks similar to the Detroit truetrac...

Can I slap a ring gear on it, run the wire through the diff housing, reshim and if the backlash and contact pattern are good, run it?!
Does the pinion need to be mucked with?

Are you changing gears and lockers? If just swapping carriers/lockers from one brand to the other then you can reuse the ring and pinion gears as long as they fall under the new lockerís gear range (D44 carrier break point is at 3.73 and 3.92). However if you are changing the ring gearís numerical value then yes you would have to swap for a matching pinion.

Im getting a guy with a bench to do the gears and I will take out the carrier and replace with either an Eaton or a truetrac.

If your just swapping out the carrier just put the old ring gear on the new carrier. Check the back lash and pinion depth. 9 times out of 10 it's a simple swap.
