revisit: b-pillar armor for Unlimited JKs

I am aware of the nearly decades-old threads on here
related to the subject of protecting the JKU b-pillars but
the threads are old enough to be devoid of lots of experience (s). Enough time has passed where there is likely better info from owners.

With new rocker/sliders headed my way I am looking at
whether-or-not it is "worth" investing in 'armor' ( they're more like skin or strips ) for the b-pillars on my 4 door.

So, I post this to ask opinions & for real world damage mitigation or incurrence from either having bpillar armor or wishing you had had it.

Is it worth the added 6-8 nutsert being drilled up that section of
sheetmetal or a wasted $ and time? Does it help when lying over on it ?

( Note : this isn't about anything like the guards that are like exocage; I am asking about this protection you see on bpillar in photo here: )

Any feedback or experience sharing appreciated.

Do you ever wheel doorless? I can't speak directly on the b pillars, but I can tell you I've completely ripped off the stock plastic c pillar. So I can imagine any added armor is a good thing.

Can't speak from experience but, anything that effectively thickens the factory beer can sheet metal has to be a good thing.

There is also the B-pillar mod of cutting it in half and making the top part removable.

Isn't the b-pillar part of your stock cage. Therefore needing to have to have a new aftermarket cage on the interior.

I am off-road frequently & have with this Jeep for
around 7-8 years, now and have never had the doors off. I have no interest in that, honestly . I will have half doors this year or next but nah; not my thing.

Probably a little less chance for mishap then, since the door will deflect things a bit before hitting the pillar

Honestly , I have many nutserts to run thru coming up &
as long as I was poppin holes in sheetmetal & had the tool
out, I figured I might benefit from running the coverage
on up that strip, as well . I just wanted to hear a few guys tell me the c-note they spent was returned in the value of
the little aluminum strip preventingg some nominal but costly damage .
Your right about doors probably backing up the box-pillars @chitown35

Yes. My mistake, you're right.

Sounds like Ol'Jeffe needs a cage now.

No need to zoom in. First thing anyone sees. Almost pulls your eyes to it.

I think that a regular rocker skin' combined with a rock rail that sticks out a few inches would have been enough to save mine. But no matter how much armour you have, you will always need more. I would like to eventually get, or make some 1/2 doors as well as a custom cage, and chop my b pillar.
