breaking open JK transfer case trick.

If you need to split open a transfer case I found a small trick that made it pretty easy. I used the one 15mm bolt run thru backwards by one of the tabs to pry against. it popped right open. I hope this will save someone some trouble.

Isn't there two pry slots on opposite ends of it, like every other NP/NV tcase?

2011 JK Unlimited. It's orange. I've been told it's 'Ugly as sin' by somebody on Facebook. - SOLD
2018 JK Unlimited Rubicon. It's tan.

Yup.
I think OP just found this to be even less resistant to cracking the xfer case open due-to the leverage of just turning a bolt versus jimmying-at those blocks. I took it that way , anyhow....

I've been able to get a prybar or big huge screwdriver into that notch
& push down to crack the xfer case.

I'll try bolt next time

With the tools I had available this was super easy. Also the force was out not across the case.

That is a neat trick. That will come in handy pretty soon.
