So getting the urge to do this to our JK. The 3.8 sucks, even though it is blown.

Most conversions are CARB legal. Depending on your state there may be some paperwork to file with the DMV and show the smog stations.

@Dkjeep - I'd take it if they mated it up to the 6speed trans. Also, if you use the factory transmission wouldn't you be able to keep the stock t-case, even the Rubicon t-case?

There is no stock 6spd trans in any jk model. If you are referring to a GM 6 speed trans yes that is what they should have done. That however in those pics appears to be the stock 5spd automatic they put in the 12-17 models. While the stock NAG1 / WA580 is a solid trans it's not in the same league as a GM 6l80.

Let's put it like this... it's like saying you can jump 3 feet in the air and you need to do this on a regular basis. But you decide to tie a 2' long rope to your foot to limit how high you can go.

Any of the transfer cases will work with the GM trans. You just don't need the Rubicon case as the sport case combined with the 6l80 first gear will get you the same 4:1 ratio that the Rubicon case delivers.

Thanks for the schooling on the t-case. I thought you had to run a sport/sahara t-case on a LS swap.

I meant the 6speed manual, as I know there was never a 6 speed auto. But from the sound of what you are saying, you aren't getting rid of the weak link in the question.

Its a Bruiser Conversion. They all use the WA580 trans:

That is correct. The Rubi case wont work with a 6l80. JSS makes an adapter shaft that necks down to work but it doesnt seem to have much traction in the market because it introduces a weak point.

This has always made me scratch my head , with the 6L80E or the new 8 Speed Chevy trans being one of the main selling points , why would anyone consider the inferior Chrysler 5 speed as a viable component ?

The Chevy transmissions are without question better than the Chrysler transmissions for these swaps . Is it like putting a two barrel carb on a LS engine ?

Just makes little sense to me .

That's just how these folks do it. Cost savings being the driving factor is all I can come up with.

One of the best things about the LS conversion is the use of the 6L80E trans (or similar)......its' smooth as butter!

I saw this conversion at their both two years ago at SEMA and it's really a clean integrated swap. From what I saw it's extremely refined plug & play system.

2014 JKU, red, 2.5" AEV lift,6.4L VVT, 35" Duratrac's. 4.10, Gen Right bumpers, VR 8000 winch, Pro Rock 44.

Per our customer's request, the stock transmission will stay and we'll be mounting an Atlas 2 behind it.

AFAIK no go on LS swaps in Cali any longer. The inferior Hemi swaps are still being done though and now there is supposedly a "swap kit" that is CA CARB legal. Unless I got a smoking deal on a Hemi conversion I would never run one in the JK. The LS is the sweet spot.

How would the second, seemingly smaller, winch mounted under/behind the front bumper be used?

Its a suck down winch. It will be connected to the front axle and used on steep climbs to prevent the coilover from unloading.
