Weird steering issue

Over the last month or so, I have had a weird steering issue come up. Randomly, a couple of times, I have had the steering lock up like the power steering was not working. It would occur for a few seconds. This weekend it happened for about 20 seconds and then went away. I have the stock pump and psc ram and box. Any thoughts?

Check fluid level. It's likely just the stock pump going bad, it's an extra crappy pump worth upgrading.

Are you still using the factory high pressure hose? I'll bet the plastic inside the factory pressure hose is collapsing.

So my last one had a bearing go out and I just replaced it. I talked to Robbie at Motech and he said the factory ones actually were pretty decent but who knows. That was my first thought as well.

Interesting thought. I will replace that as I have to take the front off anyway to fix my radiator. Thanks.

Hmmm, that has not been my experience at all. My new one made bad sounds off the lot, then developed a fade above 2500RPM where it had no power steering above 3000RPM, then I replaced it with another OEM which immediately had poor behavior above 3000RPM and then through age lost almost all high RPM power steering.

Replaced it with a PSC pump and it works perfect now. Not to mention the amazingly improved steering speed with a higher flow pump running hydro.

I will probably do this upgrade. I have had a stock one for 4 years with no issues until now.
