programming jeep after gear / axle swap issue po731

hey... i swapped a set of Rubicon axles with 5:13 gears into my 2017 jku that came with 3:21 gears... i programmed the computer with a AEV procal and superchips flashcal and keep getting a po731 error code ( incorrect gear ratio ) other than that it drives great..lol trans goes into limp mode stays in 2nd or 3rd gear..... seems like one of the jeep computers is not getting the message of the new gear ratio.. strange i have tried disconnecting the battery etc....check abs sensors , cleared all codes before programming and even put the old radio back in because i heard that could cause issues.. with no luck.. anyone have any ideas.... i would like to avoid taking it to the dealer... i contacted aev and superchips... but they didn't seem to have a answer... any help would be great its driving me crazy !! thanks a lot.

I spoke with our Lead Tech, here's what he had to say:

-Confirm the gears that you're trying to program for, Rubicon Axles don't come factory with 5:13 gears.
-Use only one programmer. Here in the shop, we stick with AEV Procal.
-The programmers can be finicky, there have been instances where we have to program them up to 20 times before the computer finally accepted it.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!

I would also verify the gearing in the axles. make sure its not 5.38. a lot of rubi guys ran the 5.38s

You should be able to reprogram. I run mine with 5.38's and was able to program using a Superchip (Procal will do the same)

Update...............!!!!!

i ended up having to take it to the dealer and having them reflash everything completely back to a stock program... then reprogramed only with the AEV procal... the jeep took the program and runs perfect 100%

superchips seems to think that somehow it had something stuck in the programer from my other jeep (even though it was returned to stock ) and transferred it to my new jeep... causing the issues... ( superchips did end up paying the dealer bill for reflashing... 150 bucks.. which was cool )

anyway everything is running perfect... i think trying multiple programmers on the same jeep may have also contributed to the problem.

thanks for all the replies and suggestions... everything is good to go now ... sometimes computers can make ya crazy.. lol ive had many jeep and changed gears on many of them and never had issues. always learning something
