Roll Cage Replacement

Sooo who is going to be the first company to offer a full roll cage for the JK? I figured Gen Right would have been on this a long time ago but I was wrong. I know Poison Spyder said they were working on something but they have been saying that for a while now. Anyone heard of any companies that might be displaying a complete roll cage replacement at SEMA?

PSC has "been working on one" for awhile. If you want a "rip the dash apart/to the frame" cage you are on your own it seems.

This is what we got...

We looked at doing the whole "through the dash" thing but it just can not be done cost effectively. Also, ripping out the whole stock set up will be a total PITA. Thats why we came out with the add-on deal to what is already in place.

Genright doesn't have one because there isn't one available from Poly or PSC for them to copy.

We looked at one originally but the stock cage is pretty integral to the tub, the amount of work required to remove and replace the cage is pretty extensive, if you have the skills to do all that, you would be making your own cage vs buying a kit any way.

can you post a pic of the downtubes in front of the dash? i've been looking for pics... i like how you ran those. at first i didn't but the more ithought about themt he more it made sense... especially after cutting the harness while installing jeepnick's bolt in cage.

I like the idea of plates flat ont he floor rather than plates vertically sandwiched on a pinch seam...

and totally OT, but i got the ban stick from JKF for mentioning how your downtubes were a good design over rockhard's lol.

Holy shit! Thank you Drew.... you made me spit my coffee out all over my keyboard. Do those guys make anything that isn't a stolen design?

OP: You have custom fab as of now. Poly, RR, Rockhard all make good stuff, some designs better than others, but all will give you some peace of mind. Make sure you stay away from companies that lambaste their customers (e.g. the one you see so many JKO members selling out for ).

There is a plate that bolts through the floor, the bolts go through several layers of the floor, directly above the chanel that supports the body mounts so it's pretty well supported.

This is the under side of the floor mount.

doesn't look like tying it into the frame from there would be too difficult...

people/vendors can claim that floor mount is fine all they want.. i still prefer frame mount...

this cage seems to make the most sense with that too

I plan to do that one of these days using a cut up lower control arm.

I believe the poly is a weld in? Or does the whole front come out?

Im going to talk to Tribe 4X4 and see if they can come up with a cage for the unlimited. I know they did a pretty sweet 2 door cage but I havent seen one for the 4 door. The only thing im worried about is will the hard top still fit? And you will probably have to get rid of the speaker bar.

As for Gen Right... I'm not holding my breath. Poly's kit looks pretty stout though so I may go that route.

Thanks blackout! We now have a CNC Torchmate plasma table in house to build all the brackets and tabs. Hopefully we can find some free time in the near future to knock out a 4 door cage! Thanks Adam

I'll give you mine to work on, but... I do have Poly front.
