2.5 Lift with 33's Vs Stock Set Up

Ok. So I figured I would offer something remotely productive to this web site other than Porn and Asinine Comments. I know there are some of you out there lurking and scared to ask some questions because you think you may get flamed for asking "What Spacer Kit Is The Best" or "Do Fifteen Inch Wheels Fit A JK" (Yes they do. Use the search feature). You know from looking, that a lot of the vocal people out here run $2,500 plus lift kits, big ass tires and wheels that cost more than my kids kindergarten tuition, bumpers and tire carriers that rival your local parks jungle gym equipment, and lighting and electrical set ups that make a Kiss concert look like a Yani Show at your State Fair.

So here is my contribution. I have a Rough Country 2 1/2 Inch Spacer Basic Kit, 16 Inch Soft Eights, and Some POS 285x75x16's AT from Pep Boys. Don't give me shit about the tires. I had a buddy who worked there and he gave me a deal that I couldn't beat. Plus, I lost my job last year and took like a $75,000 a year hit to my income.

So I go out to smoke today at work, and there is a stock JK parked right next to me. I snapped some pics to show some of you guys what your Stock Jeep would look like if you went this route.

And YES, you can install this lift yourself. I am a self proclaimed moron and I did it in a few hours. Just take your time and pay no attention to how long the directions say it should take.

My cost:
RC Lift = 139.99 minus 10% for the JKOwners Discount, but shipping pretty much negated that.
Wheels = $100.00 off Craigs List. Deal of the Year! Had to drive to Mobile, AL to get them though.
Tires = $700.00 for all five installed balanced, and whatever the fuck else they do.

Once my Kid Graduates from school in 10 years or so, or I get a better job and sell my Boat (Somebody PLESE BUY IT! It is in "My Garage if you want to check it out), I will be able to get bumpers and stuff. Look out for deals and you too can do it for under a grandy!

Yes I do have plenty of room for 35's (315x75x16)
My wheels have 4.5 backspacing
My front spring are shot so they are saging a bit. Should have some new ones soon.

And this made me laugh a little bit.

I'm confused. I'm still looking for porn. This post is like watching Arnold Schwarzenegger in office. Sure he's actually there and may say something that sounds political, but you expect him to blow something up and give a one-liner at any minute.

My set up is just a cheap solution until I can do it right with RK or Poly Kit. Gets me by for now. There's not alot of rocks in Florida!

Well I don't want to disappoint Taxman so here!

And don't say "Aw that's nothing, I expected more out of you James". I have been know to produce better, but this is the Modified Section, and I am trying to keep it clean for the most part.

Hasta la vista baby! Kaboooom! That's more like it!

BTW, your Jeep looks good. The A/T tires don't look anywhere near as dreadful as you make them sound in your post - at least you have a full-size spare!

Does the RC basic spacer kit come with new shocks or shock extensions?

Yes you can. Depends on the wheels and their back spacing. Mine are 4.5, stock is some where around 5 or 5.5. If you use stock you may need spacers.

Here is a pic of mine with out the lift on my old 2 dr and new 4 dr.

SDMF. I was thinking of you when I stared this. I know how you love field these questions!

I just got the Basic, so it came with extensions. I read a lot of horror stories about their shocks. One member here told me to just get the basic kit and invest in some Bilsteins. Which I plan on doing soon. Then when I get my RK or Poly lift I have the shocks ready to go.

I will tell you this. The Rough Country Spacer kit is great. 2.5 in the Front, 2 in the rear, and it's made from Steel. Unlike some of the others that are some space age plastic material that can go bad after a while.

Thumbs up

I think your JK looks great! I also have a silver Unlimited with a 2" coil spacer lift, and it has worked out great for me. Did you use a reinforcement kit for your spare, or is it all stock?

I went with thier 2.5" coil spring and 2.2 shocks picked up the ass 2.5" and the front about 3.75" to give the jeep a little rake to the back. and running 33/12.50/16s with 4,5 in. back spacing. Have been pretty happy for now until more money comes along to go bigger and better.

07 2dr 35s 3.5 spring lift,rear 4.5 front 488s winch, TnTfront stinger bumper,flow master exhaust.
