JKU 5 point harness mounting

Anyone have pictures of how they mounted the lap and 5th point to their JKU? I have a synergy cage so the shoulders are easy but interested in the other mounting points. Did you drill and mount to the tub or seat mounts?

I welded tabs to the cage. You want the seats and belts all connected to the cage.

Some build info here:

That is the optimal solution.

An 'ok' solution is Synergy used to make a harness tab kit. I am running one until I do a full custom cage with seat tie-ins.

I have not seen that kit for sale anywhere else that has it in stock though. Couple of folks in my group had to make something similar as they couldn't find that kit.

I'm not sure I can picture the lap belt and groin belt welded to the cage.

I have A pillar, B pillar, C pillar down bars and a harness bar that goes across the rear of my shoulders.

Any pics of how they'd mount to the cage?

He has a full custom cage. Pics can be seen on his jk freaks build thread. Without doing a full custom cage(thousands $$), not possible.

Okay, thanks.

So anyone without a custom cage? The synergy tabs look like a good idea.

I could potentially add a lower harness bar from B to B on the synergy cage.

Why can't you mount the lap belts to the original seat belt mounting location?

The OEM seat belts will still be in the jeep so I'm guessing I can't use that position.

If they will mount there without interference why not? You may need a longer bolt but the length they use now seems to be sufficient. You are only using one belt configuration at a time.

Yeah maybe. Just want to see if others have done it or other things.

Yeah, I've talked to two friends that have 4 point PRPs and they all used the OEM belt location with the OEM belt still there. They both wrapped their shoulder harnesses over their bars which I have. I'm gonna look for some synergy tabs and will let ya know if I find anything.

Also, interesting how closely the anti-sub mount from synergy looks like the fire extinguisher mount from Drake. I have one of these mounts but not sure I'd trust it but as I read the anti-sub belt doesn't have as much force on it during an impact....the synergy piece though looks beefier.

I verified today that Synergy does not make their harness kit anymore. I've seen several now use the OEM mounting location but I really like the tabs piece. Synergy recommended that I talk with Crown to see if they have anything.

It sucks that Synergy stopped making the brackets. Obviously they weren't selling many but they are a nice product.

I had to borrow a set(thanks BigPrince) and have the brackets copied and made. Worth it to me because the brackets do what is needed.

there is not a lot of room in that area, especially if you have changed to a suspension seat. I really don't see this working due to the space, especially on the inside of the seat.

These are exactly like the Synergy parts that are no longer made. They work perfectly.
