Knurled Ball Joints

Aside from Dynatrac and Teraflex are there any other manufactures that make Knurled ball joints. I currently have the Teraflex HD ball joints but 2 years ago when installing them I noticed they didn't clear the larger OEM axle shafts I used from a 2014 Rubi in my 2009. I ended up having to grind down the ball joint just a bit to get it to clear the top of the lower JOint which was a pain.

My driver side Lower ball joint was Destroyed from a violent axle shaft break and I need to replace it. I just ordered front and rear Carbon Chromoly axles and I can only imagine those front shafts wont clear the ball joint as well. My First mistake was going with knurled BJ's when just swapping out the factory ones. (still a newb) Now there's no going back. Any ideas?

Jeep is a 2009 sport with Rubicon Axles.

Thank you,

I just went from synergy ball joints (knurled) to Rare Parts (non-knurled); the rare parts were actually tougher to press in than the synergy were to press out. They were definitely a tight enough fit.

Rare parts are up there in price with Dynatrac too. I've seen how massive the Rare parts are and wonder if I would have clearance issue with a newer beefier axle shaft. Has anyone had luck with Synergy ball joints and do the lowers sit almost close to stock?

I have the carbon 44 front axle and it comes with those shafts that you purchased. It also came with synergy ball joints and there is no clearance issues. While the axle housing is not the same the geometry in that area has to be the same as you can re-use the stock knuckles etc....

Same here. Rare Parts non knurled installed after removing Synergy knurled. No issues!

Im going RP when these wear out.

Will those rare parts ball joints work with a RCV shafted D44?

Yes, Synergy ball joints are sized closer to stock than most aftermarket ball joints. You do not have to grind the 2012+ axle shafts where you do for many ball joints.

Awesome, I messaged Austin over at Off-road brand to see if Synergy worked well with the Carbon Chromoly Shafts and they do. No grinding or clearance issues so I'm going to give them a shot.
