PSC HighFlow Power Steering Pump

Well I want to hear from people who have done the PSC Hyrdo Assit. My PS Pump makes a lot of noise when under heavy accelartion but when vehicle is running idle there is no noise.

They have sent me a replacemnet pump which is making the same noise. Yes the system is bleed properly , the hoses are correct size and smooth flow. Eveyrthing is checked.

So how many people hear the pump under acceleration ?

GM power steering fluid. NOT ATF+4, normal GM power steering fluid.

I will see if I can video tonight with me driving with the hood up to hear things better if not it will have to wait till this weekend.

I have an Ipod and I hear that while I'm driving. On those rare days when I'm not listening to it, I hear my Goodyears singing with the road. I don't notice any weirdness coming from the PSC pump. I also just run the Mopar ATF +4 in it. Maybe I'm over simplifying, but hydraulic fluid is just hydraulic fluid. Why not use a synthetic like the ATF +4 that handles the heat a bit better?

Sometimes we can get too sensitive to noises. Mine's the damn rattle underneath I can't get to stop. I'm thinkin' it may be the exhaust cross over vs the tranny skid, but that's a different thread....

For fluid I am running the GM power steering fluid as that is what is recomended by PSC...Howe..WTO......

Hydraulic fluid is not all the same, viscosity, addatives or even lack of addatives can influence what it does. Jeep uses the ATF+4 not because its "better" but because its cheaper They can run the same fluid in multiple uses.

Don't even get me going on noises something that sounds like a heat shield that randomly rattles: check, something clunking: check, something that randomly clunks but only at speed:check

Man, I looked and looked through those instructions and all I could find was "fill the system with power steering fluid." Once I found out Mopar used their ATF+4 for the PS as well as their AT, that was all I needed. One less bottle of shit to carry. I only meant synth was better than non-synth for handling the heat, not that the ATF+4 was the cat's meow or anything. I've gone well over a year and a half with that stuff in the system and it's still that pretty red and smells right. I'm still thinking hydraulic fluid is pretty much hydraulic fluid, but it would be interesting to hear what the guys who have been having problems with their PSC pumps are using.

Lance (PSC) and I have been discussing this issue the last couple of days. He was telling me that the new CB pumps flow so much more fluid than the TC style pumps, that at high speeds the veins in the pump naturally produce more air causing slight cavitation. He said all pumps do this to some degree, thats why the system has to be vented and not sealed. They are working on a fix as we speak. I do know they build high performance products and will resolve this! Adam
