Another gearing thread

I have decided to keep my 2007 ,V6, auto with 33s and what I need to know is?

1, What ratios should I change to 4.56s or 4.88s ?
2, Why do you say this and what difference has it made?
3, What RPM is your car on at 60 or 70mph with which ratios?

Thanks

I don't run either of those gear sizes or a 33, but IMO either would work. Which would be best would depend on your Jeep. If it spends most of the time pounding the pavement I'ld run the .56's. If it is lucky enough to be regularly wheeled or if you plan on ever even remotely going bigger than the 33's, the 4.88's.

It's also only a 9% difference between both gear sets...

I would say 4.88 minimum since the OD of the auto is so deep at .69. Do you think you'll move up to 35s, if so I would get 5.13s. Check this chart to see where you're RPMs will end up vs where they are now. What gears are in it now?

The jeep is ragular daily driver and has to drive 25km to work and back each day, it gets wheeled appoximately 1 weekend a month, and as for going to 35s not much of a chance as they are illegal here in Queensland Australia.
The laws here say we are not allowed to go any bigger than 10% increase in the original rolling diameter of the factory fitted tyre.

Well 32 inch is an option from factory,10% mean 3,2 increase ,so go for 35 you know you want it see.

I'd go with 4.88 ...mainly cause 4.56, for some reason, is quite a bit more expensive. And if you decide to go with bigger tires you're running a better set-up for it.
