5.38's at 70 MPH

Here is a photo of my speedo and tach on my 2009 Rubicon Unlimited. I meassured the tires and my 35" BFG KM2 actually are 34" tall (only about 2K miles) It runs at just over 2600 rpms at 70 with an auto 4 speed. Feels real good now, big improvement over the 5.13 gears won't even mention the 4.10s.

I would double check your speedo against a GPS. My 35" BFG KM2's had to be programmed at 33.25" in order to get the speedo to be correct.

My speedo was programmed to 35" goodyear MT/R tires (34.25" tall), and with an auto tranny and 5.38 gears I am turning 2500 RPM at 70 mph. It would be better if it were about 2800 RPM. Too bad they don't make 5.88 gears.

I had to do the same with my 35" KM2s; program to 33.25. Checked with GPS and it was perfect.

With my 37" Iroks, I had to program to 36.25 to get it perfect. Without the Superchips, my speedometer is WAYYYY OFFF.

You definitely can't trust your speedometer and odometer until you reprogram and verify with GPS. If you didnt, then you are not actually doing 70.

Isn't tooth breakage a concern with such fine gears? I eventually want to swap out my 4.10's to go with 35" tires, but I'd heard that going higher than 5.13's could be a reliability issue on the trails.

No.. Haven't heard of 1 instance of R&P failure due to this.

Hitmoney, definately 5.38's. Iran5.13'sfor about 10 days prior to the 5.38's and definately the 5.38's arethe way to go. As for my being seen around Doral, I'm sure you've seen me, but you weren't in your rig or I'd have seen you. I used to stop by your place several years ago every Friday with my riding buddy, but that's been a long time now. I've also gone to your MG but it's been quite a while since also. Hope to meet up in person soon. By the way the gears were done at Roco 4x4. Sorry for the crappy photo

Then I definitely seen your rig at ROCO's.. I just dropped off RubiKong there a couple days ago... Seems that I almost always have something going on there.

I drive DD's everyday. I am at the club during the day.. stop by sometime.

Runnin' 5.38s with 39.5s... no issue at K2. Next major test trip probably won't be until Trees Ranch on Labor Day.
