Winch Problems

I got a free XRC 8 winch last week and I can't seem to get it to move. It does freewheel, it does have power to the motor but all I'm getting is a few clicks. Anyone have any suggestions? If I can't get it to work then oh well, it was free but I would like to give it a try.

Mine have me problems when I first got it, the gear lever wouldn't go in or out of gear till I sprayed a bit of MMO in it, and now it works great.

This may be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway... When you put your winch control into the solenoid, did you press it in, and rotate it until it clicks? I didn't at first, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work.

I have the XRC-10, and is the only thing I cut corners on (shoulda bought a Warn), but will use it until I need a new boat anchor, and then will upgrade to a Warn.

A lot of chit coming...
