I'm finally legal...

with my mirrors that is. not by any means done, but it's functional right now.

just got some angle iron, some 3/8" threaded rod, and some cheapo autozone mirrors ive had for a while and an array of nuts and lock washers. covered the threads with some rubber tubing. i plan on painting the mirror and the hardware black to match the rest of the jeep. initial testing produced minimal vibrations, not too much to where im unhappy with the outcome. i also plan on getting hex nuts that are the end cap or acorn style for the bottom end of the threads and the end up by the mirror as well for a cleaner look.

i originally had the threads a lot longer and going through the upper door hinge, but there was waaaay to much vibration, so i made the bracket for the windshield a pillar.

ive got the passenger side ready to go, just need to drill the bracket for it. but as the title states, the driver side mirror finally makes me legal.

gotta clean up the foam backing a little

turns out it wasnt such a great idea. the damn thing whistled like crazy at 55mph+ and i took it off to find that i tightened it so much, the angle bracket actually got through the foam backing and left a nice little scratch on my a pillar. guess ill just stop being a cheap ass and get some dietech doors off brackets. i refuse to buy the RR relocation brackets. and ive been reading a lot of stuff lately that says the lange quick mirror II isnt worth the money.

ill probably hunt through some junk yards for an extra set of mirrors so i dont have to keep moving them back and forth.

used to use a heritage soft tail mirror on my YJ through the hinge, worked really well. went to the harley dealer when i first got the JK and couldnt find a mirror that worked well enough. maybe i just didnt try the right ones.
