The Rattling.... MAKE IT STOP!!!!

I have a 14 unlimited im running a poison spyder body mounted rear tire carrier and i loved it right up till i stuck a tire in it and now it rattles to the point of insanity. i have went through how poison spyder suggest to adjust it and it open and closes great and lines up fine. i think the issue lies with the tire carrier contacting the lock plate on the top and not fully touching on the bottom. so all the weight rests on the upper pin. and there is not adjustment for this. i am hoping someone has experience this and has a solution.

Not the first time I've heard of this issue. Unfortunately I don't have a solution, but figured it was worth it to let you know that you're not the only one.

As bad as it sounds I'm glad there are or who fee my pain... I have tried weather stripping between the swing out and lock plate. I also stacked some washers behind the Lower pin. To space it out father into the hole it's suppose to be in and it helped but still not a fix. My next try I'm gonna try and stack washers behind the locking plate on the driver side but only on the bottom to try and make it match the angle of the swing out. But I don't want it to ripple the tub so I was hoping someone had some better ideas.

Maybe some thin VHMW or HDPE plates to shim and dampen?

It would have to be tapered I think to help. I tried using some weather stripping as mentioned above to see if I could dampen it at all and it didnt.

i got a stock tire carrier it rattle like crazy. It pisses me off so bad I tried everything nothing works. even smacked it with a hammer out of frustration. I dont like to think about it makes me wanna smack it some more. One of these days im going to take a grinder to the hinges. It is so annoying every little bump makes it rattle.

ALL tire carriers will rattle. just depends on when they start rattling. only way to fix it is to get used to it or dont use it
