Why are genuine Dana Spicer gears so expensive?

Looking to regear and looked at the price of Dana Spicer gears and about croaked over. Are Dana gears worth the extra money or is something like Yukon or Alloy USA okay? Any brands I should avoid?

Rock Auto had the Dana gears for a D44 for $128ish a set.

Yukon, G2, Motive gears are all the same gears just in different packaging, but I'm not sure if Dana falls in that category too or not. I would tell you just to buy a set from the manufactures listed above. When I got mine Yukon had them cheaper than G2. Typically the only time anybody has problems with the gear sets is when they are installed wrong

I talked to a gear installer in a shop that was high volume heavy duty truck repair shop and he said that dana spicer gears were easiest to set up compared to others as far as not having gear whine. Not that that makes them better but maybe they have a better finish or something.

I looked at that the other day. They don't have the Dana brand in 4.11, only Dorman. Who makes Dorman gears? I'm guessing USA Standard Gear is the same as Yukon, G2, Motive?

Did some more digging and it looks like the Alloy USA regear kit 360002 actually uses Dana Spicer gears, just repackaged.

I've slept since I read this stuff so keep that in mind....

I remember seeing somewhere on Pirate that one of the big race teams said that they had much better luck with Spicer gears.

I also want to say that most (not sure all) Spicer gears are USA made.
