Swapping in some Rubi axels (Don't tell the Wife)

Thanks to JKCurt I'll be picking up a set of really well built Rubi 44's for my wifes unlimited x tomarrow. She doesnt know and can't know!! About the swap so i was planning on splitting it up over two days while she's at work. Any pointers or stuff i should be aware of before i tear in to her daily driver.

She would consider new axels a waste of money. I on the other hand consider them priceless. Its much easier not telling her than explaining how chity the dana 30 is! One problem though, I just havent figured out how to tell her she can turn the overdrive back on!!!!! HEHEHE

Assuming you're running 3.73's in the Unlimited now, if you're splittin' the swap up over 2 days, I don't think you'll be able to drive it with different gears in the front/rear axles after the first day (without disconnecting the front drive shaft between days).

I could be wrong, but I think that's how it works.

Good luck.

You can drive with different gears in the front and rear, as long as you stay in 2wd and not in 4wd.

Things to do BEFORE swapping:

New wear items.
Shit like brakes, ball joints and stuff like that are a LOT easier to do with the axle just sitting there. Its cheap insurance.

Gusset the front?

You plan on using factory switches for the lockers? if not see my tech write-up for making them a "normal" switched item.

New lube and diff cover seals.

Otherwise you should be able to do the swap complete in a weekend at most.
