Question Question on winch mounting...

I am looking at keeping the stock bumper so I need some help with choosing one of these items, or is it worth looking at replacing the whole bumper? I am on a real budget.

I see two different mounting options I am considering but would like to see if anyone has any opinions on which is best and is it worth an extra $200

or

Thanks for the help

Have you thought about doing the Rough Country Winch Mount? I did this for my previous JK Rubicon and worked great with a Smittybuilt winch mounting on a factory bumper. Look at the member name BLUERUBI....that was my old Rubicon with the Rough Country Winch Mount.

Do they hold up pretty well? The rough country looks cool.

yeah. it's solid sheet metal and has 2 D-rings...one on each side for tow points. It also comes with new bumper mount brackets that have bolt-on points for the winch mount so you dont lose any anchoring points and very solid.

Or install the winch in/on the OEM bumper with a 30$ winch plate...

Costs 30$ and 2h of work...

There are many write-ups about that...

Good luck!

My preference would be for a new bumper, however there have been some nice installs on the stocker, even some between the frame rails to get it low and stealth.

Just ordered the Rough Country one, it was one of their 12 deals of Xmas on their site. I'll post when I get it and install it.

I originally did the $39.99 universal winch mount from Workshop Tools (same as the Harbor Freight one) only problem was we had issues getting the mounting holes to line up. We ended up welding it to the frame rails.
