Brute/Truck conversion???

I'm planning for the future here but I'm looking for details on just how they convert the JK Unlimited into a 4dr pickup. I saw some of the process in the RESQ-1 videos and I understand the basic concept. I'm just curious if AEV has a sheet metal enclosure they weld onto the body after making the requisite cuts or if they're doing it piece-meal with the rear of the JK like Evo-Offroad did with RESQ-1? I'm really hoping AEV will start releasing a kit by the time I'm ready because 20,000$+ is well beyond my price range for the conversion. I also don't want their bed but instead want to build my own flat bed.

Does anybody have any links to some good write-ups or pics of the process for making the conversion?

Aev will likely never off the BDC in a kit form. The cab enclosure is stamped steel so you would have to make on your own. The frame section is replaced with a longer center section. The rear frame is also stretched for the bed mounts.

I wonder if they'd do just a cab conversion for a customer. Even if I had the money I honestly have no interest in most of their package. I already have a lift, wheels, and tires that I like. I don't care about a special gauge cluster or badges either. I just want the crew cab truck with either a flat bed or a drop side bed.

One thing I really liked about how Off Road Evolution did the ResQ1 cap was the little cubby doors they put in the bottom corners under the back doors.

I doubt it Aev is very particular on what they offer. What your wanting to do is very possible just need to find a company that is good with making metal body parts. Its been done several times even before the brute came about.

Edit** Call Evo maybe they can make you a close out

That's a good idea. I'll have to talk to them once the time gets closer. Right now I'm focusing acquiring parts and funds for my LS swap. Once that's done then I want to start getting ready to convert the jeep into a truck. I'd really like to keep it a soft top too but have no idea how that would work out. Basically I want a modern crew cab M715.

Thanks for the info.

Extremely particular. A former member here bought a whole bunch of AEV stuff, wheels, bumpers, ProCal, etc., and he had to beg and plead for the windshield sticker, which is only given to OEM/AEV-built Jeeps.

I think a JK-8 kit with a little customization and frame extension would fit the bill.

For the soft top, go to a boat canvas shop. They do great work (typically) and work with heavy duty materials and clear vinyl.
