Rock Krawler 2.5 and 38s & 40s! What?

So I was looking at some pictures of jks on Instagram. Anyways in some of the comments on one pic. The guy said 38's or 40's or something Toyos would fit on his rubicon with a rock crawler 2.5.. I guess he had some big ass fenders. Can anybody support this statement? Or does anybody have pics?

I am running 37's on the RK 2.5 Max lift w/flats (no body lift). So, 38's are definitely do-able.
Like others have posted, 3.5" and you should be able to do 40's.

Here is Planman's thread on running 37's with only 2.5" & 1" body lift. Start there and get some build ideas.

You're going to need to do more than just shove springs under it if you plan on actually using the rig with that big of a tire. But that statement was supported a long time ago, by many.

We feel under flat fenders for most people that 37's on 2.5" of lift work very well. 38x13.5's work very well under 3.5" and flat fenders.

For people that want to go up one size from the above, going with very little up travel and a good amount of droop will be your best friend! 40's will require wheel well trimming as well!

Hope that helps.

Especially on a 2 door. The RK lifts a little more than the advertised 2.5". Paired with flats or the Metalcloak Overline Fenders, do-able.

I had plenty of room for 37's on my 2 door with my 2.5" Teraflex lift and OEM cut flares. Even more when I added another 3/4" lift.
