Damage from axle removal?

I don't remember seeing this prior to having the stock dana 30 swapped out.

I hit a gully last fall and then noticed some real bad tire wear on the passenger front. I took it to an alignment shop and they said it was ball joints. I decided not to put any more money in that axle and got a dynatrac 44 instead.

I'm wondering if that damage was overlooked by me and the shop? Or if the shop that swapped the axle went nuts.

Thanks!

That looks like it was cut with a torch. I would say they cut it. Maybe it was bent and they had to cut it to release pressure on the track bar to get it apart.
