Regular or Thick Gears

This may be a dumb question, but I have tried looking and cannot find the answer. I know you use thick gears when you are using a carrier meant for a lower ratio. I have an AAM 10.5" FF 4.10 rear on it's way. Would this take the standard gears? Also, I'm picking up an 02-04 F-250 d60 front in the next few days. I'm not sure what ratio it is yet. Is it possible to know whether or not I'll need thick gears yet?

I am going to guess you are wanting 5.38 gears in that. If you are, you will want a thick gear set.

Yes, I will be going 5.38. Do I need thick front and rear?

It will depend on the carrier. Are you planning to get lockers? A locker will make a difference in what gears you choose.

Detroit or Grizzly for the front and ARB for the rear.
