I wish i could say that this helps, but after working in DC for 4 months this year I can tell you it almost doesnt do squat when you write in to most of your rep's offices.
for bills like this, most reps have deals with other ppl where they trade votes and stuff (i vote for your bill, you vote for mine). as an intern, my job was to match up letters sent in with form letters we had pre written set up to insert different names and addresses.
i cant say its entirely because they dont care, some offices just get too much mail. every now and then we'd get a unique letter where we (and by we I mean I) would have to research a little and respond to them specifically. unfortunately, in these cases, we would usually ignore the question if it was something that the congressman was opposed to and beat around the bush with a response.
government sucks. i passed dozens of buildings on my way to work each day that id like to see demolished (dept of education, dept of ag, etc.)
I am intimately familiar with the workings of government...unfortunately...that is why I call too...but if enough people write, it does work...
sounds like you might be the low guy on the totem poll...
