JKU Smugglers Floor (coming soon)

Another product in the final stages of development we want to share. . Aluminum cargo floor and drop in storage box. The floor is constructed from a single sheet of 3/16' 5052 aluminum and makes for a smooth flat surface for mounting fridge slides, storage boxes etc. The Drop in box is constructed from 5052 aluminum and is a great mod for those who have relocated their factory muffler. Requires surgical removal of the factory cubby. Both the floor and box make for a great secure storage solution for the JKU but could be used as stand alone items. We used ours for installing an onboard air system and it has worked out great. Currently working on production times and pricing.

Can you explain how you would mount a fridge slide on this and still have access to the cubby?

You wouldn't: that's why I chose to install onboard air inside. Frequent access is not required. Other plans are for the box to be used for a water tank. Using the box as a locking storage would be an option for you if you didn't have a fridge or storage boxes bolted to the cargo floor.

Box seals up with a bulb seal on the bottom of the flange to the body.

How about a version with a split in the cargo box cover so that a fridge slide could be in the left and you could still open the cover on the right?

That could be an easy option.

How "surgical" is the OE cubby removal? Just some sheetmetal cutting?

Correct, fairly strait forward. Sheet metal cutting and and a few spot welds to drill.

Not too bad. I'm a bit tentative to cut a big ass hole in there but I really dig the idea of a bigger storage spot there that is lockable. I have less of a problem drilling holes or cutting the exterior sheetmetal, haha.

What is the noise difference with the new insert? Do you get a little more exhaust noise now? I'll be running a long arm eventually with a turndown after a shorty muffler. Certainly don't want fumes coming in the cab.

haha. Completely understand. My wife thought I had gone crazy cutting a huge hole in a perfectly good jeep, she came around after seeing the finished product though

Haven't noticed any noise difference and certainly no fumes. My exhaust exits right above the rear axle slightly turned down. The seal does a good job at keeping water and fumes out.

That's great

And I am definitely interested in what pixeldzn mentioned with the split door. Could make it more expensive/complicated but would be great for installs that utilize the storage for items you'd like to access more regularly.

Do you have a picture of the unit itself not installed? Does it interfere with the sway-bar or upper shock mounts at all?

I'll get you a pic later today. No it does not. It is designed to clear them both.

Sorry brother: we got extremely busy with a couple events during the last few weeks. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. This is a rather bad picture, as I said before the box clears both the shock mounts and the sway bar with minimum clearance to maximize box space. There is room for a larger size sway bar if you have one.

Any update on these? They'd make a great option for gun storage.

Thanks,
