Question Tittle And Registration??? Dealer

First a little Background

I'm in the USAF in Korea, I bought my Jeep trough ENCS, vehicle only and nothing else.

The Jeep is being delivered to a preferred dealership (Military/ENCS friendly) back at home..The Jeep is en-route to the dealership as we speak and will be there waiting for me to pick it up.

-What I'm wondering is if the dealer would go the extra mile to register and pay the taxes since they are refundable(as part of the recovery act 2009) before I pick it up, that way I just show proof of insurance and my license and take off to the trails.

...So should I bother to ask?? have any of you done something similar?

The dealer is suppose to detail it and give it a full tank of gas before I pick it up,that's where I got the Idea..but ENCS paid for those services and paper work but not tittle and registration.

I will ask the dealer to do all the Recalls and such, is there anything I'm missing that the dealer can do while its sitting there so my new baby can spend more time with me than at the dealer later on??

I arrive Late may, Receive Jeep Mid June

Never hurts to ask. Everything is negotiable with dealerships. I have had dealerships pay title and tax, but it was on a used Jeep. It all depends on how you talk and who you talk to.

In NY state, the end user has to pay that separately from the purchase. Can't remember why, but something to do with the DMV being *****es. Every car we sell you have to pay it separate- Mark W.

Must vary by state. In Florida the dealer always collects and pays tax and registration fees.

In Michigan it's normal for a dealer to do the registration paperwork, get the plates and pay the taxes. Of course you have to pay for it.

I don't know about the reg and title.

I was looking at your mod list though and have to ask about the 2.5 TF lift and then 1.5 spacers on only 33s? You can fit 35s with only the 2.5. Hope this helps before you order parts you don't need.

I've read that some 33's rub agasint something on the read tires with the TF 2.5 lift and that spacers are recommended...35's are too big for right now since i'll be doing alot of hwy driving, going back and forth from the base and home every other weekend or so (MPG)

but i'll ask the dealer and see what happens

Ok, your talking about wheel spacers. For some reason I was thinking your were talking about spacers for your springs to give you more lift. I guess I'm retarded.. Forget what I said. You are right.

Reality check

Ace,

Hate to burst your bubble but here is a little reality.

First, Deductable means you deduct that amount from your income so you end up not paying taxes on that money. If you pay $1500 in sales tax, you can expect to pay about $225 less in income tax.

Second, ENCS is your dealer, not the dealer that is delivering your Jeep. By that I mean that ENCS is making the money from the sale of the Jeep. The delivery dealer gets a small fee for preparing and delivering the Jeep. You will find they aren't real eager to do you any favors aside from selling you accessories for your Jeep. When I got my Harley through ENCS, I handed the dealer a check for registration and sales tax, they handed me the keys and said "thanks for your service, don't let the door hit you on the a$$ on your way out." Of course I'm stretching the truth a bit for effect but you get the idea.

I'm still a fan of ENCS. Even if the deals aren't as good as they used to be, they are good and they give the servicemember something to look forward to while they are away from home. Lots of fun!

Have fun with your Jeep and welcome home!

How about this. I bought my JK when I left Okinawa, through AAFES New Car Sales in Nov. 2006. I picked it up in Myrtle Beach, SC with a 30 day dealer tag on it and drove it out to AZ and registered it. Since Im not a AZ resident, I only pay $11 every 2 years (yes that's right!) $11 for 2 years of registration.... and I didn't pay sales tax

It depends on what you claim on your W2. Like someone else said, in the end you might get a couple hundred bucks back. Smokin deal? Nope, but better than a kick in the balls.

Thanks for your service

Not quite... if you start negotiating on a vehicle purchased through the Exchange dealership program, they can start negotiating everything! They'll start adding fees and crap that are supposed to be all taken care of, so you don't want to do that.

In addition, these deals are supposed to be pretty much complete. You get the good deal, the dealer makes a few bucks prepping the vehicle and you pay for YOUR costs... tax, insurance, registration and title. Hell, why not ask them to pay for your insurance, too??

No, the dealer will not pay for this stuff for you, though they may do it on your behalf - with you footing the bill, of course. But, many states require your signature, so unless you provide them with a POA, they simply can't.

You'll have to be ready to cover these costs when you get back in order to pick up your Jeep.
