First Mod Suggestions...

...and so it begins.

I'll be movin' to NM where I will be able to start using my 2 week old Jeep as intended. I'm not sure HOW much offroad/trail/sand etc, I will be on or how extreme or easy it might be. I have a list in my head of mods I would like to do, but I'm not sure where I should start...

1- Mirror Relocation Brackets- So I can take my doors off ASAP keeping the factory mirrors
2- Rock Rails- currently the body looks 'unfinished' these would be functional and cosmetic.
3- Fender Flares- strictly cosmetic at this point, riding on factory 255/75/17's with no need for more or less coverage
4- Front and rear bumper- same as the rock rails but more to cut down the 'bulk government plastic look of the stock ones.
5- Bestop Trektop- it just looks hot!

the best first mod would be to find a rich old lady to support your jeep habit

Once you get the rich old lady... Lift it, Protect it, and wheel it

I think Dr.Dirty has something there... you might have a little competition from the looks of things though

Arrr since your moving to NM,why not let the new enviroment dictate the mods? By that I mean after you get there and do some wheeling, that alone should show you what you need to do first, second, etc Arrrrr

Somethin's happenin' here, what it is ain't exactly clear, there's a man with a gun over there,a tellin' me,I have to beware.....

Send a message via Yahoo to WTF_LOL

I say start with recovery, move on to armor and then performance.

Of course this sounds nice but nobody ever sticks to that plan, lol.

Seriously though, start with recovery. You can improve your ride to get into the middle of oblivion but you will need to be just as capable getting back.

Trust me, I wheel by myself most weekends. Nothing worse then that very first moment that you realize you are stuck or broken with no way to take care of it yourself and nobody around for miles.

In particualr I say,

Winch
CB (so you can call out if you need help)
Cell phone car charger
Tow straps
Tree saver
at least 1 snatch block but if you wheel alone alot at least 2
Shovel, pick, axe depending on your terrain
Hi lift
Front and rear tow points
Full set of tools

So the nice thing about working on recovery is this will be your excuse to get bumpers since you need it for the winch and tow points. Also, it justifies rockers as you will need jacking points for the hi lift.

Also, justifies new tires as proper tread would be needed.

eh.. it never ends. Just typing this I thought of a million other things you need FIRST, lol

Also, not sure where I got the idea you will be wheeling alone. will you be with people?

1st thing I did too. Cheap and who doesnt want to rip those doors off the 1st time they get in?

After that I agree with most the posters. 1st thing I did was front stubby bumper and a winch. Ive used it for my own benefit twice and pulled others out 3 times now I think, well worth the $$$ as any "off road" tow recovery is going to cost quite a bit. After that, depends on what/where you'll be wheeling. Im sort of building mine to be a jack-of-all/master of none heh.

nah nah nah nah nah nah, I made you eat your parents - E.Cartman

@ MaRShiN- Sweet Pics in your Gallery.

I think I'll start with the relocation mounts and then follow lohchief's suggestion to see what type of wheelin' I'll be doing.

Reading the posts, I think the front bumper has definately moved up on the list, followed by a winch.

However comma, Dr. Dirty is on to something...
