What to look for in a wrecked axle?

So i'm going to take a look at an axle out of a wrecked rubi tomorrow. I was told it was a front end collision and the control arm brackets are bent.

If i can pick it up for a couple hundred i might just do it and have new brackets welded on.

I'd do the following anyway:
Regear
Outer Sleeve

Thinking about this as well:
New locker
32 Spline D44 axle shafts.

Is it worth it to build this if i can get for $200-$500?

I think this thing is finally coming together. Still Needed: drive shafts, frame mount rails...then done son! For a while...

Mostly just make sure the tubes and C's are not bent. With it being hit in the front It might be bent. I know a local guy who buys all my oem stuff he is always on the look out for front axles he said they bend easy. This guy buys and resells jk's all the time.

I would recommend that you assume the C's and or tubes are bent and see if you can justify building the axle.

We sell a lot of PR44 housings due to bent factory housings. You'll want to check it very closely.

I'll definitely be going over it with a level and tape measure to see if anything is out of line.

I think this thing is finally coming together. Still Needed: drive shafts, frame mount rails...then done son! For a while...

Axle turned out to be totally trashed.

Someone had a head on with a light pole. The tie rod was under the diff and the sway bars were shoved back into the springs locking the bottom halves into compression and both sides of the axle were bent back.

Time to start looking at other options.

I think this thing is finally coming together. Still Needed: drive shafts, frame mount rails...then done son! For a while...

We see a bunch of trashed stock housings. Most of them even get bent under normal wheeling nothing to crazy. The Teraflex or Pro Rock housings are definately the best way to go in the long run.
