CEL.. p0440 Evap Emission system

Code showed up after wheeling so im sure i messed something up read around and did all the basics checking all lines for visible cracks. did notice if you hit on the evap canister the white box on the back of it with the plug will rattle inside popped it off didnt notice anything.. but is this thing supposed to rattle like? any help would be appreciated got emission test in 2 weeks so need to figure it out..

Make sure you have the seal between the can and the white unit on the back. Have you got the gas cap notification on the dash. Also just do a search on the evap and there will be a several posts

I had the gas cap warning come on once and just remembered that myself went and checked it. it is cracked ima get a new one tonight and reset it see if that fixes it

where are you going to find one that quick? I have not found anywhere except the stealership to get a new evap.

i was talking about the gas cap.... the o-ring is cracked all the way around

well the gas cap didnt fix it..

I would get a new "little white box" its an ESIM switch, about $10 at the dealer and they usually stock them, Get a new seal for it too. The rattle is the float valve moving inside it.
